Literary Responses: I Know Why the Cages Bird Sings
This week we read "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou. I am interested in your response to this text. You could comment on one or more of the following: your favorite line and why you like it, the mood and your evidence, characteristics, any connection you may have, a metaphor that was interesting to you or how the poem could be considered autobiographical.

ReplyDeleteI was so sad to know the poet's childhood experience. In the poem,"I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" have repetition,I like the repetition. It let me know the poet's strong feeling and really longs for freedom .
ReplyDeleteI read the poem 'I know why the caged bird sings' by Maya Angelou i like this poem this make me feel sad when she said in stanza five " but a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shodow shouts on nightmare scream."and she doesn't have freedom. this is very sad.
ReplyDeletewe have a discuss about"I Know Why The Cage Bird Sings"yesterday. My favorite line is"sing for freedom"because she want let everybody know people in that time all need freedom inclued her.
ReplyDeleteI am really like the poem " I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" is autobiographical because Maya wrote about herself. In the poem, stanza 2 lines 5-7,she said "The bird his wingS are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing" This means the bird want to say something but he couldn't and Maya become mute after when her mother's boyfriend raped her. She also wanted to say somerthing but she couldn't.
